Profit margin scheme

VAT only on your margin, for second-hand goods.

If you sell used phones, pre-owned vehicles, trade-ins, or antiques, many tax authorities let you charge VAT only on your profit margin, not the full selling price. Toggle it in Settings > Modules & Features (VAT must be on first).

  • VAT calculated on the margin, not the full sale price
  • Loss sales produce zero VAT, no negative liability
  • Serialized items use the specific unit's cost for the margin
  • VAT Return report separates margin-scheme from normal sales
  • Prints your custom declaration on every margin-scheme invoice

Margin-scheme eligibility is your accountant's call. EVRST does the arithmetic and the paperwork correctly; the rules vary by jurisdiction.

Invoicing shouldn't feel like accounting.

Common Questions

Frequently asked.

Can I give a customer a statement of account?
Yes. Open the customer, choose Statement of account, pick a date range, and print or save a PDF. The closing balance always matches the outstanding figure on the customer record, so you can hand it over when chasing payment.
Does it support the VAT profit-margin scheme?
Yes, for second-hand goods like used phones or vehicles. VAT is charged on your margin instead of the full price, a loss produces zero VAT, and the VAT Return report separates margin-scheme sales from normal ones. Margin-scheme invoices print your declaration instead of a VAT line.
